What a day looks like at TOVI
The morning opens with circle time, language and number work in short, focused blocks. This is followed by a hands-on activity period, where children work with materials directly instead of listening to instruction.
The second half of the morning shifts toward less structured time: guided conversation, group play, and tasks children complete with less direct supervision than they had in Nursery. This shift in pacing, not just the content, is what prepares them for Senior KG.
What your child builds this year
By the end of Junior KG, most children reach four specific milestones. These are what we track, and what you'll see for yourself during the year.
Reads simple words
Moves from recognising individual letters to blending sounds into short, simple words.
Writes independently
Forms letters on their own, without needing a traced outline to follow.
Manages their own materials
Handles their own books, supplies and daily routine with far less reminding than at the start of the year.
Stays focused for longer
Sits through longer activity blocks without losing attention, the specific skill Senior KG will ask more of.
How we teach it
We don't follow one single teaching method. Our curriculum blends four approaches: the Montessori Method for hands-on material work, the Multiple Intelligence Approach so children can learn through their own strengths, the Play Way Method for early literacy and numeracy, and Inquiry-Based Learning for thematic projects that connect classroom topics to the world outside it.
